7 Simple Steps to Detox for Spring

Spring is traditionally the time of new beginnings. It's time to recharge, rejuvenate, renew and "lighten up" after a long winter.

Detoxification is about resting, cleaning and nourishing the body from the inside out. By removing and eliminating toxins, then feeding your body with healthy nutrients, detoxifying can help you regain much-needed energy, clear your skin and improve digestion... and meet the spring feeling lighter, happier and more excited about the sunny days.

We share 7 simple steps to detox for spring:

1. Drink Plenty of Water
This is one tip that you’re probably sick of hearing again and again, but it’s only because it’s so important to so many vital organs, and it helps to keep your body well-flushed of toxins. Water is key to flushing out your system, hydrating your skin for that warm-weather glow, and boosting your metabolism. Start by adding just two glasses to your daily routine — one when you first wake up (before your morning coffee), and one more right before you go to bed.
If you’re looking for greater ways to stay hydrated during a detox you can choose from recipes and several different combinations by Mia @ Detox DIY  so you’ll always have a new flavour to enjoy.

2. Meditate for Five Minutes Each Day
A healthy lifestyle is just as much about your mindset as it is about your body. Taking time each day to clear your mind and re-center your energy will help fight stress and allow you to be more productive for the rest of the day. Anytime that you need a quick break, a dose of inspiration and calmness, just stop, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. If meditating doesn't come naturally to you try to concentrate on your breathing or playing a calming song while you sit quietly.

3. Add One Green Vegetable to Every Meal
Leafy greens are full of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting phytochemicals. Green veggies are also a good source of fiber — important for weight loss and maintenance because it helps to control your hunger by keeping you feeling fuller, longer. Even if you're not a huge veggie fan, there are so many delicious ways to prepare and enjoy them that you're sure to find a few you like - 35 detox salad recipes you can enjoy any time.

4. Add some Movement to Your Day
If you've spent most of the winter curled up on the couch binge-watching movies, getting back into an exercise routine can be intimidating.
Stretching will kick your detox efforts up a notch. As you stretch, you allow oxygenated blood get to all the nooks and crannies of your body, carrying toxins out with it. Exercises like yoga and pilates are great activities to do in the springtime.

5.  Go to Sleep 30 Minutes Earlier
Few people consider sleep as an important part of a detox, but getting enough quality shut-eye reaps major benefits beyond just feeling well-rested. While it may be hard to power down the electronics and get bed earlier, shutting off all stimulation, including TV and cell phones, at least an hour before bedtime really helps. it’s also recommended to have a herbal tea like chamomile, which will help relax the muscles in your digestive system and your body.

6. Have More Tea
There are plenty of teas out there that offer different cleansing benefits, with the most common one being green tea. But if you get bored easily you can always switch it up with different herbal teas that have detox properties.  Teas can improve your sleep, teas can help energize you throughout the day, teas  can help cleanse your liver and kidneys, and also ones that can calm you down and make you feel good. 7. Enjoy a Detox Baths to Cleanse, Relax, and Rejuvenate
A detox bath is a way to help cleanse the body, relax the mind, and provide extra support to various systems of the body. There are different types of detox baths that you can take, each with their own goal and benefits provided.

The main aim of detox is improving your wellbeing. There’s no better reason than just to feel better and boosting all areas of your life.
